ASCT 2010 Annual Conference
April 9-11Austin, Texas
Welcome to Austin, the “Live Music Capital of the World!”
As the 16th largest city in the US, Austin is a hot spot for creativity and embraces its community of musicians, artists, entrepreneurs and progressive thinkers. Home to a singer named Willie, a cyclist named Lance and a Longhorn steer named Bevo. Austin has nearly 200 live music venues throughout the city, four lakes and countless parks within the city limits and internationally renowned music, film, food and media festivals throughout the year. Austin has more than 50 miles of hike and bike trails, more than 200 parks and around 300 days of sunshine each year.
As the gateway to the Texas Hill Country, rolling hills and sparkling waterways abound in Austin. From March to October, visitors gather to watch 1.5 million bats take flight from underneath the Congress Avenue Bridge. Some of the country's best Tex-Mex and barbecue restaurants can be found here. As can a wide selection of local and organic specialties.
Leave some room for one-of-a-kind shopping finds, because Austin has an eclectic array of shops and boutiques. Head to South Congress, or SoCo, for unique and vintage treasures from apparel to jewelry, artwork and more. For 700,000 square feet of designer shops, try Austin's newest shopping destination, the Domain. The Austin area also offers outlet stores that will leave your hands full of can't-pass-up steals.
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, there’s always something playing in Austin.
