Licensure

Licensure of individuals refers to the right bestowed by a governmental body to engage in a legally defined occupational scope of practice. Its intent is to assure the public that the licensed individuals have met minimum qualifications and competencies required for practice. (ASCP Policy Statement # 05-02)
